Abstract: This paper presents an overview of the results of a study performed for EPRI covering the historical performance of fossil-fired units 200 MW and larger from 1965 through 1984. The study was based on analysis of the information collected over the years by the Equipment Availability Task Force of the Prime Movers Committee of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), and more recently by the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC), and covers approximately 7700 unit-years of operation at 668 individual units.
