Abstract: A stiffness approach is presented for computing the solution of beams on variable Winkler foundation. The solution may be achieved using only a small number of elements along the beam. Accuracy is dependent only on a preset user criterion. A numerical example demonstrates the efficiency and accuracy of the procedure.
