description abstractTwo anisotropic copper rods 12.5 mm in diameter produced in continuous casting operations at different casting speeds were successfully drawn as cast at various reductions in area up to 60 percent. It was found also that hot rolled commercial copper showed anisotropy in shear. With the aid of Hill’s theory of anisotropy it was possible to utilize Avitzur’s model of drawing for the prediction of drawing stresses achieving moderate success. The effect of redundant deformation theoretically computed is discussed.
