Experimental Investigation on Compressive Strength of Frozen Soil versus Strain Rate

Abstract

This paper describes an experimental investigation on the compressive strength of frozen soil versus strain rate. The relationship of compressive strength and temperature and strain-rate are examined within certain ranges of strain rate and temperature, the results of which are a number of stress-strain curves. Some formulas are suggested to predict the compressive strength of frozen soil, as compared with experimental results.
