The monitoring of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals is crucial for both cardiac health and mental state assessment. Traditional ECG methods rely on chest electrodes; however, they pose challenges for individuals with chest injuries or burns and can cause discomfort over extended use. Capacitive electrodes offer a noncontact method, which is particularly beneficial for wearable applications, providing a comfortable and feasible alternative for long-term use. Findings suggest that neck-based monitoring can achieve effective ECG signal acquisition, reducing motion artifacts in certain configurations and potentially expanding the application of ECG for heart and mind monitoring. Additionally, using the neck area for diagnosing specific conditions could collect more information. This study explores the feasibility and advantages of using capacitive electrodes for ECG monitoring from the head and neck area.
