    Abstract
This paper proposes a novel vibration control method for rigid center–flexible appendage satellites considering actuator/sensor deployments. Initially, we derive the satellite model in planar motion and analyze the impact of actuators and sensors on the model. We propose finite modal vibration control for the model characteristics, including actuator/sensor deployment optimization and nonlinear controller design. Compared to existing methods, finite modal vibration control additionally considers the number of controlled modes and optimizes actuator/sensor deployments. Furthermore, this paper focuses on the stability of the residual modes and gives the necessary conditions to ensure stability. Finally, numerical simulations are employed to validate the effectiveness of finite modal vibration control. The simulation results reveal that compared with the existing methods, the finite vibration mode control mitigates vibration more efficiently due to the consideration of controlled vibration modes and actuator/sensor deployments.
