THE TIME-SPACE SPECTRUM OF THE GEOSTROPHIC MERIDIONAL KINETIC ENERGY

Abstract

Variance (power) spectra of time series (7? yr) of the individual Fourier components of the meridional geostrophic kinetic energy at 500 mb are presented. The spectra show a pronounced annual period. No other significant periodicities are found.
