description abstractRobust control techniques are very attractive for active building control. This is particularly true during seismic disturbances, when the spectral characteristics of the disturbance are unknown, and the stiffness and damping of the building structure may change due to inelastic deformation. Robust controllers can be designed to accommodate these uncertainties. This paper explores the effectiveness of robust controllers on a linear, elastic model of a building structure.
