description abstractThe relation between the intensity of a corner and the stress concentration factor is investigated for the bending problem of a thin plate with a fixed edge on the boundary. Its relation is established for the stress state symmetric to the bisector of a corner angle in the re‐entrant corner. Using this relation, the intensity of a perfectly angular corner can be obtained from the expression of stress concentration. Furthermore, values of the stress near the corner are also obtained. Conversely, if the intensity of a corner is known, the maximum stress of a corner with a small radius of curvature can be obtained.
