description abstractDifferent acceleration techniques are employed to improve the solution procedure of a set of coupled, nonlinear, partial differential equations. The study applies the techniques to an idealized problem of two‐dimensional steady laminar flow in an enclosed rectangular cavity with differentially heated end walls. The numerical model is verified by comparing it to numerical solutions of four different cases of the presented problem. An explicit comparison between the alternative acceleration techniques is made to ascertain the relative efficiency.
