description abstractThis paper discusses Singapore’s Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act and an area of delay in the resolution of dispute under the Act. Prior to the Act, there was no regulation to ensure prompt and fair progress (interim) payments to contractors and suppliers. As a result, many contractors were not paid fairly and reasonably during the period of construction. The Act mandates strict time lines for the payment of claims, failing which, contractors and suppliers may apply for an adjudication determination. By and large, the adjudication process is
