description abstractThe objective of this work was to do a preliminary design of a management system for infectious medical waste (IMW) at the regional level and apply it to the region of East Macedonia–Thrace (EMT) in Greece. The main management concept proposed was to collect infectious waste from all sources, transfer it at the appropriate storage room of the general hospital of the respective prefecture, and transport it from there to the central treatment facility of the region.
