description abstractBased on theoretic analysis and calculation by establishing solid finite element model, the variance between mechanical hypothesis/simplification and the real structure and the changes of transverse distribution of bridge caused by structural damage or reinforcement were discussed. A practical calculation example was presented to justify the research. The result shows that (1) there are some differences between the computational solution and real construction; (2) the transverse distribution calculated by traditional methods is partial to unsafe. Correction factors of transverse distribution coefficient for some real constructions were put forward for correcting the change of transverse distribution coefficient caused by damage or reinforcement of transverse connection. The correction factors can make the calculated mechanical state better in accordance with the actual bridge and can be referenced by similar engineering. The evaluation result demonstrates the validity of these correction factors.
