Characteristic Analysis of Expressway Development in China and Its Prospects Based on Modern Integrated Transport System

Abstract

The authors analyzed the essential requirement of expressway construction by modem integrated transport system. It first presents the characteristic analysis of expressway in China from several aspects including highway density and traffic volume level by quantitative and qualitative methodology. And a general judgment is worked out on characteristics in construction period together with its prospects. Based on the analysis and research results, the authors believe that the first two or three decades in the 21 century will be a prime period of large scale expressway development in China.
