description abstract | Road runoff samples from two highways in Chongqing were used to preliminarily analyze external factors that affect highway runoff. Results show that the difference in concentration between the general road and the suspended highway bridge was non-significant. The effect of traffic on the runoff caused by vehicles may not be associated with the settlement of organic waste on the ground. Contamination levels were determined by season: spring, winter, summer, and autumn. Rainfall water quality and runoff water quality showed no obvious correlation. The finer the dust particles on the surface are, the higher the concentration of pollutants. More than 80% of the pollutants accumulated on the dust with size smaller than 2.0 mm. The rate of pollutant leaching due to acid rain was from 0.76% to 15.94%, indicating that the soluble pollutants in the runoff were only partly produced from rain that contains particulate pollutants | |
