description abstractBased on the reconstruction and expansion of the tourist highway which circumscribing Changbai Mountain, ETM + remote sensing data of various landscape types were extracted. The changes of landscape pattern indices of different buffer zones were calculated by landscape ecology software Frasgstats3.3 to quantitatively analyze the landscape pattern affected by reconstruction and expansion of the road. The results show that (1) the reconstruction and expansion lead to patch density, Shannon-Wiener index and splitting index of different buffer zones increase while largest patch index and landscape contagion index decrease; (2) the variation range of each landscape index decreases with buffering distance increases after the reconstruction and expansion of the road; (3) the reconstruction and expansion of this highway caused fragmentation of the landscape and the influence distributes in the roadside 200 m buffer zone.
