description abstractBased on the existing detection methods of cavity areas under concrete pavement, the transient impulse-response method for cavity detection was put forward. The detailed operation process of cavity detection was described by model test, and the Zero Slope Identification method was put forward through the cubic spline fitting curves of amplitudes at measuring points. The test results also indicates that the real boundary of cavity slab is a fuzzy zone, and the cavities identified by the Zero Slope Identification method are little larger than real ones. Finally, the tests on the real concrete pavements also verified the feasibility of transient impulse-response method in practice, and the method also established the foundation of detailed researches and development of measuring instrument in the future.
