description abstractThis study investigates the aqueous degradation of four iodinated x-ray contrast media (ICM) compounds (diatrizoate, iomeprol, iopromide, and iopamidol) by ozone and combined ozone and hydrogen peroxide. In laboratory scale experiments, second-order kinetic rate constants for the reactions of the ICM compounds with molecular ozone and hydroxyl radicals, and overall at pH 7.5, were determined.
