description abstractLearning how your clients perceive your performance, as well as how you compare with your competition, is essential to a successful marketing program. An image survey can provide this information; however, the cost of a survey can often be prohibitive to a small firm, especially if outside consultants are utilized. A case study is described whereby a small geotechnical engineering firm successfully conducted a useful survey themselves at a relatively low cost. Recommendations are given for the benefit of others who might conduct their own survey.
