description abstractThe increasing acceptance of seismic isolation for bridges is being demonstrated by the number of bridges now being designed or retrofitted using this technology. This technology is now being used for bridges across the United States. Seismic isolation in California, Tennessee-Arkansas, and New York are but a few examples of how this technology is producing cost-effective solutions for bridge owners. This paper discusses the application at these locations and the application of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Guide Specification for Seismic Isolation Design.
