description abstractBecause of the high traffic volumes during the normal workday on major urban transportation corridors, many construction operations are now being conducted during the nighttime. Nighttime work requirements have in turn precipitated an increase in disturbances to adjacent property owners. This paper presents an overview of two different approaches to the mitigation of nighttime construction nuisances. The mitigation practices used on the Boston Central Artery/Tunnel project and the Salt Lake City I-15 project are enumerated.
