description abstractSmart pavements, which are the foundation of the future city, are gradually coming true. Asphalt with sensing–healing performance prepared by polyurea polyurethane (PPU) and polyaniline (PANI) balanced the basic traffic properties of the pavement and the data collection of city informatization. The dual network system formed by PPU and PANI introduced sensing–healing functions into asphalt. In this paper, the cumulative fatigue damage and self-healing behavior of sensing–healing asphalt were analyzed to explore the effect of self-healing performance enhancement. The results were as follows: (1) Cumulative dissipated energy (CDE) was the best fatigue analysis index. The fatigue performance decreased with the increase in strain, damage degree, and healing rounds. The fatigue performance increased with the increase in healing time and healing temperature. The dual network of PANI and PPU improved the fatigue-healing performance of asphalt; and (2) The new healing index provided the most accurate response. It could evaluate cumulative fatigue damage and self-healing behavior more accurately. The smart city of the future aims to achieve sustainable urban development by integrating digital technologies and optimizing the use of resources. The basis of the future city, the smart pavement, is also facing challenges and development. The information and data provided by smart pavements are not only closely related to the operational efficiency of the city and the quality of life of the residents, but also the data cornerstone for the stable and orderly development and operation of the future smart city. To meet the multiple requirements of future cities for smart pavements, the cross-design and integration of multiple technologies of pavements is one of the optimal solutions. Asphalt with sensing–healing performance prepared by polyurea polyurethane (PPU) and polyaniline (PANI) balanced the basic traffic properties of the pavement and the data collection of city informatization. In this paper, the self-healing performance of sensing–healing asphalt will be analyzed. The results showed that the dual network of PANI and PPU improved the fatigue-healing performance of asphalt. A new healing index with the cumulative dissipated energy and fatigue life was provided, which could evaluate cumulative fatigue damage and self-healing behavior more accurately.
