| description abstract | To overcome the difficulty of cold start of a spark-ignition (SI) engine fueled with aviation kerosene, a series of experimental investigations were carried out on a port fuel injection (PFI) two-stroke engine. First, the effects of several auxiliary preheating methods, including kerosene fuel preheating, intake manifold preheating, crankcase preheating, and cylinder head preheating, were studied. Then, based on the physical and chemical properties of kerosene fuel, an optimized fuel injection and ignition control strategy was proposed. The results showed that fuel preheating and intake manifold preheating cannot ensure successful engine start. Compared with crankcase preheating, cylinder preheating is more effective for engine cold start. The optimized fuel injection and ignition strategy not only reduces the required temperature for preheating but also improves the dynamic performance of the engine cold start conditions. | |
