description abstractThis paper makes use of the Duffing oscillator equation to represent the dynamic nonlinearity of rectangular plates. The response of the nonlinear oscillation of a beam leads to parameters that are determined and compared to experiments. The resulting technique used for their evaluation are then extended to plates considering both simple and clamped boundary conditions. The programs MATLAB and ABAQUS are combined for these analyses.
