description abstractDelays are common on projects of all types, sizes, and locations. A full understanding of the impact of a delay and its consequences for various contracting parties is required as part of a proper contract administration process, and it is necessary to prevent lengthy disputes and litigation. The large number of available critical path method delay analysis methodologies (DAMs) and lack of consistency in their application motivated this research to better understand the use of DAMs in the Egyptian construction industry. The research relied on a triangulation approach that combined quantitative data and statistical analysis from a survey of 93 firms with qualitative feedback from 9 domain experts. Analysis of the results shows clear trends in the use of particular DAMs and differences in awareness of DAMs among contractors and consultants. The research further provides a better understanding of the use and level of understanding of DAMs and the criteria used to select them in the Egyptian construction industry.
