description abstractThe strength and stiffness characteristics of infill masonry wall significantly influence the behavior of reinforced concrete framed structures. Although such characteristics for conventional masonry infill walls, like clay and fly ash bricks, are well documented in the literature, experiments for the evaluation of similar properties for modern infill walls using autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks are limited. This paper reports the experimental results of an investigation of the structural properties of AAC block masonry required for mathematical modeling of AAC masonry-infilled framed structures. It also investigates some of the physical properties of AAC blocks that influence their structural properties and overall behavior.
