description abstractComparisons between ice nucleus concentrations as measured by membrane filters and cloud chambers show good agreement when natural ice nuclei are being sampled. Wide discrepancies in the case of other test aerosols, particularly silver iodide, bring to light differences in the mechanisms by which various substances nucleate ice.
