description abstractThe soil moisture status at a cacao estate in Trinidad, W.I., has been estimated by a climatological method for six years. A relation (r = ?0.76**) between the logarithm of the monthly number of disused pods and the moisture deficit in the fourth preceding month has been demonstrated. Such a relation could be the basis for predicting disease outbreaks and taking remedial action.
