description abstractThe sampling distribution of the estimate of the ?time between effectively independent samples,? T0, is investigated using Monte-Carlo techniques. It is found to be asymptotically unbiased and normally distributed. Agreement between empirical sampling distributions and the normal distribution is good for sample sizes on the order of 1000. Estimates of the variance of this sampling distribution may be obtained as a function of the estimated T0 value and the sample size.
