description abstractBased on a limited set of available oxygen isotope measurements, it is hypothesized that the mean now in the Middle Atlantic Bight is part of a 5000 km-long buoyancy-driven, coastal current which originates along the southern coast of Greenland. This idea is consistent with most features of the known circulation of the region.
