description abstractThe daily acquisition of thermal infrared imagery from the NOAA-2 satellite permitted the delineation and monitoring of a series of upwellings in the Gulf of Tehuantepec during December 1973. Following the upwelling, a large anticyclonic gyre was detected in the imagery as the coastal currents returned to their historical positions.
