description abstractDuring mid-July 1975, a strong frontal system crossed into the tropical latitudes of South America. Freezing temperatures were reported in southern Brazil, and the daily thunderstorm activity over the Amazon River Basin gave way to low stratiform cloudiness. Daily infrared data from the SMS-1 satellite are presented for this weather event.
