description abstractUsing parameterized forms of time-averaged heat fluxes at the interface between the earth and the atmosphere, the normal temperature at the earth's surface is determined by satisfying the heat balance condition. The calculations for the normal surface temperature and the heat fluxes are made for January and July conditions for every 5° latitude and longitude grid points over the entire globe. The computed results are in good agreement with the observations. Sensitivity of the temperature calculations to the changes in the parameter values is discussed.
