description abstractThe maximum supersaturation in a diffusion cloud chamber as a function of the temperature difference between the two plates has been calculated under various conditions. It is shown that the assumption of linear profiles for the temperature and vapor pressure is a very good one, and that the effect of thermal diffusion is negligible for a water-air mixture.
