description abstractThe ice-nucleating properties of 1-leucine, d-valine and 1-aspartic acid have been studied in detail in order to check a report that certain amino acids including d-valine behaved anomalously, being more effective in a cloud chamber than when immersed in supercooled droplets of water. On the contrary, the results show d-valine to be exceptionally active when immersed in water.
