description abstractThe author proposes a heuristic semiempirical model for predicting the reliability of a matched-filter frequency estimator applied to Doppler lidar signals. The model is tuned by a single coefficient ? empirically related to the ratio of the number of signal samples per estimate over the number of speckles. It can deal with any signal characteristics (spectrum width, number of samples, etc.) as well as any factor of accumulation.
