description abstractMultiple regression equations for the 24-hour prediction of the pressure-height distribution are examined for the predictability as a function of the number and type of independent variables entering such equations. Information from the 1000-, 500-, and 200-millibar levels isused to predict the pressure-height distributions at these levels. The increased predictability as a function of the successive addition of information from these levels is examined.
