description abstractThis paper presents a brief history of photogrammetric mapping for highway activities in the Western States. Reasons for emphasis and development of techniques are discussed. Some of the problems encountered in the development indicate the rough start in acceptance of photogrammetry in the early 1950's. The Texas highway mapping system is briefly described.
