description abstractA strain rate dependent material model for concrete has been proposed for analysis of three-dimensional reinforced concrete structures under transient dynamic loading. The model takes into account the pressure sensitivity in three-dimensional loading situations and strain rate sensitivity in dynamic loading situations. The cracking in tension has been modeled using the smeared cracking approach. The strain rate sensitivity has been considered at two levels: the failure surface is made strain rate dependent as is also the fluidity parameter. The tension stiffening effect observed in reinforced concrete structures has also been considered.
