description abstractA direct and simple method is presented for the determination of sewer geometry of circular and noncircular shapes for partly full‐flowing conditions with the known variables being discharge, bed slope, and Mannings roughness coefficient. Methodology has been developed for satisfying the minimum and maximum velocity constraints in a design procedure. A criteria of time of existence of self‐cleaning velocity has been suggested for checking against self‐cleaning velocity. It is hoped that this criteria will rationalize the design procedure.
