description abstractThis note concerns the development of a simple computer procedure for sizing equalization storage for a water supply system. The basic approach employed in this piece of work was to model the cumulative consumption by using a continuous interpolation technique. The pumpage, on the other hand, was modeled based on an assumed pumping schedule. The maximum amount of water to be filled into and withdrawn from the storage in one operation cycle was then determined by an efficient search method. From the results of the analysis performed, it is shown that a typical problem can be solved well within 4 seconds on an IBM personal computer.
