description abstractTests were conducted to study the effect of concrete placement on the shear strength of headed studs. Twelve specimens were constructed, which differed only in the position of a stud-anchored steel plate during concrete placement. The tests indicate that headed studs in the top of a concrete element, with concrete cast beneath them, have significantly less strength than when the concrete is cast either above or to the side of the steel-concrete interface.
