description abstractIn the design of roof and wall double-diagonal cross bracing, the compression diagonal is usually ignored. The possibility of bracing provided to the compression diagonal by the loaded tension diagonal is examined. It is shown that the compression diagonal may be effectively braced at midspan through its connection to the tension diagonal, thereby increasing the total capacity of the double-diagonal cross bracing system.
