description abstractAn experimental study is presented on the structural response of reinforced concrete skew bridges of: (a) orthogonally, (b) nonorthogonally shaped waffle slab constructions, and (c) solid slab construction. The response is examined under elastic and ultimate load conditions. The results show that the orthogonally-shaped waffle slab skew bridge has a better load distribution characteristic, a superior ultimate load-carrying capacity, and less severe stress concentration at the obtuse corners, than the other two types of constructions.
