description abstractIn general, pumping tests are performed in borewells as well as in dug wells. Depending on the radius of the pumping well, the storage effects influence the aquifer parameter estimation. To account for the storage effects, it is necessary to use the models that include the well-storage effects. However, the models that account for the storage effects require graphical solutions that are subjective. Presented here are highly accurate algebraic forms of the well functions that include storage effects. These forms render their use amenable to error-based optimization algorithms for the estimation of aquifer parameters. The potential of these models was compared with the 1935 Theis model, which does not allow for storage effects.
