description abstractA method using nonlinear least-squares and finite-difference Newton's methods is proposed to determine the loss constants of the aquifer formation and the well for step-drawdown pump test data. Comparisons of the results between the proposed method and other methods, including the graphic and computer methods, are presented in detail. The proposed method has the advantages of high accuracy and quick convergence for most initial guesses.
