description abstractThis paper presents mean velocity and some turbulence measurements for uniform subcritical flow in a smooth rectangular channel for three aspect ratios equal to 5.08, 7.83, and 12.3 obtained with a Laser Doppler Anemometer. These results include some measurements in the viscous sublayer. The agreement of the velocity measurements with the logarithmic law as well as departures from it are studied in the respective regions. Turbulent shear stress profiles are also measured in the central as well as wall regions.
