If a member observes that an engineer’s work is inadequate or unsafe, the proper course of action is to submit a documented complaint to the state board or other organization charged with investigating such matters.

ASCE's Code of Ethics holds that the obligation to demonstrate honesty and fidelity is not confined to engineering matters and applies to all of an engineer's business, financial, and professional dealings.
