description abstractA J2 yield criterion and time and temperature-independent flow theory of plasticity have been applied to study characteristic phenomena observed in tensile tests of some ductile polymers: namely a load drop immediately after yield and stable propagation of a neck along the entire length of the specimen. A trilinear stress-strain curve is used to quantify the effect of material model data on these physical observations.
