description abstractSubmarine cable systems made up of combinations of armorless cable and armored cable are subject to twist moments and deformations during installation. These stresses and strains may damage the cable. An expression is presented for the twist moment and deformation in a string made up of any number of segments, laid with or without bottom tension. Three sample cases are worked out using two specified cables.
